JOB OPPORTUNITY:

Bell Lumber & Pole MB ulc, formerly Roblin Forest Products, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Roblin, MB . Our company is 115+-year-old family-owned and operated business with operations in both Canada and the United States. We are a manufacturer of wooden utility poles, fence posts, firewood and mulch. JOB PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Technician is tasked with maintaining our facility's functionality, safety, and operational efficiency. This experienced technician will carry out diverse maintenance and repair tasks on both mobile and industrial manufacturing equipment. They will execute complex equipment inspections, and actively contribute to the overall performance and safety of our workplace.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Independently repair mobile equipment, including identifying and resolving issues, diagnosing faults, and ordering parts for Volvo loaders, John Deere loaders, CAT forklift, other machinery.
Utilize knowledge of hydraulics to repair, diagnose, and resolve issues throughout all departments of our workplace.
Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, identifying and promptly resolving safety hazards, and implementing proactive safety measures.
Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance of Volvo loaders, John Deere Log loader, other yard vehicles.
Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Collaborate with others on major maintenance projects, installations, and renovations.
Spearhead preventive maintenance programs on mobile equipment, utilizing your expertise to optimize equipment performance, extend longevity, and reduce downtime.
Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues to determine the best course of action for repair.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training or certification in heavy duty mechanics is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in heavy duty mechanics or a related field. Proficiency in hydraulics is an asset.


SKILLS BASED REQUIREMENTS:

General diagnostic experience
Hydraulic system experience
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adaptability.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
Willingness to continually learn and stay updated on emerging maintenance technologies and practices.
A valid driver's license and dependable transportation may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and is frequently required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in a pole yard and/or treating plant environment, at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. Employees may be required to wear ear protection and appropriate PPE. Employees will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood and cleaning the plant. The job may require overtime and employee may be called in during emergency situations.
