REPORTS TO: Plant Manager / Maintenance Manager
Bell Lumber & Pole MB ulc, formerly Roblin Forest Products, is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our team in Roblin, MB . Our company is 115+-year-old family-owned and operated business with operations in both Canada and the United States. We are a manufacturer of wooden utility poles, fence posts, firewood and mulch. The Maintenance Technician is tasked with maintaining our facility's functionality, safety, and operational efficiency. This experienced technician will carry out diverse maintenance and repair tasks on both mobile and industrial manufacturing equipment. They will execute complex equipment inspections, and actively contribute to the overall performance and safety of our workplace.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training or certification in heavy duty mechanics is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in heavy duty mechanics or a related field. Proficiency in hydraulics is an asset.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and is frequently required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in a pole yard and/or treating plant environment, at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. Employees may be required to wear ear protection and appropriate PPE. Employees will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood and cleaning the plant. The job may require overtime and employee may be called in during emergency situations.
