Position Summary
Under direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the department’s activities and production by supervising the department staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. The work can be complex and requires comprehensive knowledge of established practices and procedures along with analytical ability. The work can be unpredictable, requiring significant shifts in priorities. Assigned work can normally be completed within scheduled hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

•Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
•Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
•Coordinate department activities to ensure quality, meet timetables and achieve production goals
•Assist in the training and supervision of maintenance team in accordance with company policies and procedures
•Promote, encourage and guide team to resolve complex problems and improve operational performance
•Evaluate department processes and recommend and/or coordinate changes
•Establish team member goals that align with operational goals, and conduct performance evaluations
•Schedule department, including work assignments, employee training, vacations, breaks, overtime
•Schedule and conduct departmental safety meetings
•Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area
•Coordinate production with other Supervisors and Managers
•Maintain and input into a computerized maintenance management system (PLEX)
•Directly assist in production when necessary
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Supervises a maintenance team that carries out the responsibilities of preventative maintenance on the production equipment and physical plant.
•Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and disciplining employee.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•Possess mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, including equipment installation and root cause analysis
•Experience with robotic programming and troubleshooting
•Possess an “Uptime Focus” for equipment breakdowns and recovery
•PLC knowledge, including online/offline program troubleshooting, create or modify programming
•Drive knowledge with or without the use of a PC
•Fabrication skills in areas of welding/cutting/grinding
•Knowledge of machining equipment and use of metal-cutting lathe, mill and grinders
•Experienced in departmental procedures and processes
•Proven ability to train, assign work to and evaluate the performance of subordinate employees
•Possess a working knowledge of the ISO 9001:2000 Quality System
•Able to operate standard office machinery (computer, phone, fax, copy machine, etc.)
Education Requirements
•High School diploma or equivalent, required
•Associates or bachelor’s degree, preferred
•Three to five years of industry knowledge and experience, preferred
