Job Summary:
The Plant Maintenance Supervisor manages the plant maintenance, directly supervising the activities of the front line maintenance employees charged with the performance and verification of the mechanical and electrical work in the plant; coordinate and monitor the activities of all maintenance employees assigned; participate in the identification of training needs for assigned plant maintenance personnel and coordinate training; participate in appropriate safety training for all assigned employees; ensure that preventive action is taken to avoid the occurrence of nonconformities relating to product or process or to the quality system; recommend solutions to problems related to the product or process, or to the quality system; participate in the coordination of repairs during outages to maintain a safe and effective flow of work to reduce downtime with the main focus on planned/repair mechanical and electrical maintenance; participate in the supervision of the installation and testing of mechanical and electrical equipment, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities & Duties:
•Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with Mine Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals in the PaSSE and SHARP plans, and monitoring the safety program and its effectiveness to ensure a safe workplace
•Participate in appropriate safety training for all assigned employees
•Interface with MSHA and other governing health and safety agencies at local and federal level as required
•Follow up investigations working with Safety Committee, and others as needed
•Coordinate and monitor the activities of all maintenance employees assigned
•Ensure preventative action is taken to avoid the occurrence of nonconformities relating to product or process or to the quality system
•Ensures correct, accurate, and timely reporting of information on all maintenance Work Orders, including “Urgent Repairs”
•Recommend solutions to problems related to the product or process, or to the quality system, and, when approved, participates in the implementation, management and verification of those solutions
•Provide technical and tactical support to the Maintenance Team, Engineer, Production and Project Manager to maximize kiln efficiency and minimize unscheduled down time
•Participate in the identification of training needs for assigned plant maintenance personnel and coordinate training
•Ensure the execution of the daily maintenance plan to meet sales and production needs while maintaining efficient maintenance costs and explaining significant variances from the plan
•Routinely monitor key performance indicators identifying opportunities for improvement and making appropriate supervisory and management personnel aware of the findings
•Preparation and implementation of training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their job safely and effectively
•Provides leadership for improvements within the maintenance groups
•Ensure the Management System is effective and well understood by all employees
•Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance
•Actively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and production
•Attend daily maintenance meetings, including safety talks
•Ensure a good understanding of the CMMS/SAP maintenance modules
•Ensure personnel perform good quality work and provide feedback to each worker on progress in meeting company expectations and goals
Job Qualifications:
•Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
•7+ years industrial, mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
•5+ years of supervisory experience; industry background in heavy manufacturing related; mining, paper mills, steel plants, refining, utilities, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants industries preferred
•Positive & proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutions; working knowledge of material handling feeders, convey or belt systems, and general knowledge pumping systems; experience in PLC or Wonderware troubleshooting a plus
•Strong computer skills; experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); SAP and Microsoft Project experience is a plus
•Strong interpersonal/people skills; results driven; self-starter; able to initiate and be willing to hold others accountable for achieving company and site objectives
•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures manuals, and blueprints
•Ability to write and communicate routine reports and correspondence
•Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behavior based management
•Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills
•Demonstrable team work and maturity with a strong safety work ethic
•Fluency in oral and written English
