Title: Maintenance Manager
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Employment type: Full-Time – 40+ hours/week

Summary
Responsible for overseeing all daily maintenance of Metalico Pittsburgh facilities; ensuring the operational and maintenance functions from all shifts are run in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. The primary purpose of the position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the general predictive and preventive, maintenance of physical plants, facilities, mobile equipment, machines, and all associated support equipment at all Metalico Pittsburgh locations. This position will work closely with vendors, operations, management, employees, environmental, or some combination of all.
Essential Job Functions
•Provide leadership and guidance to ensure that all plant equipment and maintenance systems function in a safe and efficient manner.
•Oversee all preventive and corrective maintenance for shredder, downstream plant, balers and other heavy recycling equipment.
•Adopts a proactive approach to preventative and predictive care and diagnosis of equipment.
•Assists team in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
•Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties
•Collaborate effectively with operations, production, and safety teams to ensure seamless operations and rapid response to maintenance needs.
•Measures and tracks relevant key performance indicators related to maintenance or drive improvement.
•Lead and assist with the diagnosis and repair of complex system failures, ensuring that issues are identified and resolved quickly.
•Able to troubleshoot and repair the following: Complex electrical systems; Complex hydraulic systems.
•Develop JSAs (Job Safety Analysis) and operational procedures for maintenance.
•Perform assignments in a timely manner.
•Responsible for managing critical parts inventory and ordering as needed.
•Make recommendations for capital repairs and expenditures based on maintenance repairs and expenditures.
•Input on capital equipment specifications based on component and equipment availability and reliability.
•Monitor maintenance costs and help develop and manage the department’s budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
•Provide quality communications to internal customers (verbal, written and telephone)
•Participate in meetings and presentations
•Provide cost estimates, schedule and proposal preparation
•Develop schedules, budgets, and labor requirements for repair outage.
•Able to coordinate with EH&S Manager on any health, safety or environmental issues.
•Learn and work in accordance with procedures and instructions. Policies, and safety, environmental and security rules and guidelines
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
•Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Minimum 5 years maintenance management experience required
•Industry experience in scrap, metal preferred
•Preferred experience or course work in maintenance principles and machine repair practices.
•Good mechanical aptitude and math skills.
•Strong analytical skills and theoretical background in mechanical systems
•Excellent written, organization and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work independently and prioritize
•Attention to detail and accuracy
•Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office.
•Knowledgeable in all aspects of basic hand tools and proper use.
•Knowledgeable in the use of the NEC code book, the OSHA safety manual and general shop and electrical safety practices. Able to reference the required safety manuals and train personnel on manual content.
•Knowledgeable on the proper inspection, removal, installation and alignment and lubrication of bearings, gears, belts and chains.
