POSITION SUMMARY:
This part time position is for a student currently pursuing a technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or a related field. The co-op will gain hands-on experience supporting the maintenance and reliability of electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment. The maintenance co-op will work alongside experienced professionals and will have the ability to apply classroom knowledge to practical challenges in the plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
•Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on electrical and mechanical equipment.
•Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineers to implement equipment upgrades and improvements.
•Document maintenance procedures, findings, and recommendations.
•Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Assist in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including motors, drives, PLCs, and control panels.
•Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
•Assist maintenance in preventative care and minor repairs of equipment used.
•Assist in kiln outage work, as needed.
•Participate in safety audits and ensure compliance with MSHA standards.
•Learn various entry level positions and cross train in other areas of the plant as needed.
•Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
•Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
•Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
•Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
•High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
•Must be enrolled in a technical degree program at a local trade school.
PREFFERED EDUCATION:
•Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
•Ability to demonstrate mechanical knowledge and experience.
•No prior internship required but preferred.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:
One (1) + years or mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment or the ability to demonstrate mechanical experience including some welding and minor equipment troubleshooting.
