Maintenance Planner - TAR Area Lead
Job Summary
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Maintenance Planner – TAR Area Lead at its refinery located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is located in the Maintenance & Reliability organization and reports to the Turnaround and Construction Manager. This position does include relocation. This position is responsible for the overall scope development of Turnaround events and safe and timely execution of the event. The hours of the position are Monday – Thursday, 6:00AM – 4:30PM, extended hours are required during Turnaround events.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the overall scope development of Turnaround events in conjunction with all departments and ensure scope is captured properly on Turnaround Work List and obtain proper Work Scope Development Checklist signatures.
•Own the work scope development process for respective turnaround team by reviewing, challenging, and ensuring quality and alignment with all stakeholders.
•During planning and execution of respective turnaround events demonstrate MPC’s Personal Safety, Process Safety and Environmental Stewardship philosophies.
•Facilitate the adherence of the plan of the plan (POP) deliverables across support organizations.
•Support the 10-year budget development for respective turnaround out year events. Review Work Scope Approval Forms (WSAs), RFI’s, Engineering Project Log, iTAR Work List, and P6 Primavera schedule on a consistent basis to verify alignment.
•Allocate planning and scheduling tasks amongst planners and supervise to make sure all work is planned using safety best practices, maximizing quality, efficiency, and productivity. • Support schedulers in development of manpower loading consistent with operations start up and shut down plans to maximize efficiencies.
•Develop and optimize overall manpower and equipment hiring plans with contractors and Project Controls support.
•Support the overall development of site logistics plan including master plot plan of cranes, BRM assignments, lunch/meeting locations, parking, bus routes, etc.
•Work with engineering to review new projects and give suggestions for constructability improvements.
•Review turnaround Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for adherence with Marathon specifications and track list of long lead materials.
•Establish contractor requirements for turnaround activities and participate in pre-turnaround meetings to review scope and schedule with contractors.
•Establish and facilitate reoccurring planning meetings documenting action items, risk register and meeting minutes to ensure accountability amongst other departments regarding turnaround deliverables.
•Support Turnaround Planning coordinators with development of work packages and ensure the work scope is clear and concise.
•Lead, Coordinate, review, and monitor assigned Turnaround work scope during execution.
•Adjust resources as necessary during the turnaround to complete scope safely, on schedule, and under budget.
•Lead and/or participate in various required turnaround meetings. Review and apply and/or mitigate previous lessons learned and prior turnaround reports to understand problematic and successful past work practices and better develop turnaround work scope.
•Compile data for close out and performance summary reports for turnarounds. Mark up master set of Unit P&ID’s with turnaround scope to look for synergies in jobcard development.
•Review contractor P6 plans for proper resource coding, direct man-hours, constructability, duration, work order coding, etc. before inputting into the master schedule.
•Assist in development and review of contractor QA/QC packages.
•Facilitate external P6 logic reviews with the help of TAR Scheduler and TAR Area Lead. Build engineering replacement in kind construction packages by pulling appropriate documentation from Open Text, inspection workbooks, Work Scope Approval Forms, etc.
•Assist in development of master operations blind lists based on turnaround scope.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
•Must have a High school Diploma or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date) and a minimum of 10 years experience in maintenance, projects, engineering or construction in a refinery, petro-chemical or heavy industry OR Bachelors Degree and 5 years in maintenance, projects, engineering or construction in a refinery, petro-chemical or heavy industry.
•Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
•Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
•Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
•Must be able to work the hours of the position Monday – Thursday, 6:00AM – 4:30PM, extended hours are required during Turnaround events.
Preferred Qualifications
•Previous leadership skills are preferred.
•Primavera - P6 experience is preferred.
