The machine Shop Lead is responsible for everyday aspects and planning for the Machine Shop. This includes reviewing jobs for suitability to shop capabilities, coordinating a setup/operator and programmer, and managing the needs of the shop (tooling, maintenance, documentation). The Machine Shop Lead must be able to fill in for a setup/operator and programmer.
· 8+ years of experience in a machine shop
· 5+ years of experience in programming a CNC mill and a CNC lathe with live tooling
· 3+ years of experience in CNC maintenance
· Experience with Gen Mill 4024 and MSEC SL 200Y lathe preferred
· Must be able to read blueprints and develop instructions for the shop
· Must be able to adjust feeds and speeds for optimal runtime
· Ability stand for long periods of time, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, etc.
· Review jobs with estimator or Machine Shop Lead
· Record daily production efforts on daily timecards
· Adjust machinery as necessary for product conformance
· Generate programs for the machines to cut parts
· Cross train employees on machinery and train new employees
· Direct the Machine Shop on its daily workflow
· Continually monitor job status of work in the Machine Shop
· Mentor Machine Shop members to improve their skills
· Offer suggestions to improve efficiency and work environment
· Prepare machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
· Must be thorough in training on machinery
· Must be willing to perform requested duties
· Must be able to follow shop and ISO guidelines
