SHOP LEAD - ELECTRICAL

Our Shop Lead - Electrical will bring their experience and skills as a licensed industrial electrician to our team, grow within the company, and add to our reputation of quality excellence. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of projects in accordance with plans, codes, and specifications while prioritizing safety, quality, and efficiency.

You are an experienced, industrial electrical controls pro, or maybe well on your way up the ladder with the skills to take that next step if given the opportunity.

You will set the daily activities of the electrical production staff, ensuring production requirements are met in a cost-effective manner while maintaining production and quality standards in a safe and rewarding work environment. As a hands-on leader, you will be on the production floor. You have the confidence to share responsibility, hold people accountable and frequently demonstrate your proven ability to recognize and capitalize on the strengths of individuals on the team.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate shop operations, including scheduling, direction of work crews, equipment, third party vendors, materials, and procurement of necessary items.
Construct project in compliance with production plans, codes, and specifications. Review of shop drawings and submittal packages for accuracy.
Maintain daily communication with shop leadership regarding job-specific needs, including workforce and project requirements. Attend project meetings as required.
Enforce all applicable safety precautions and programs, maintaining safe work practices.
Uphold quality control standards and conduct ongoing deficiency inspections and repairs, support job hazard analysis and logs, support documenting shop operations.
Build to project schedules, including providing updates, adhering to schedules to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget. Prioritize production optimization.
Support direction of crew, material staging, and resolution of bottleneck conditions.
Support weekly shop production meetings, progress walkarounds, inspections.
Support material delivery status, order materials, receive deliveries, upkeep inventory.
Attend construction job sites to support installations and fix deficiencies as needed.
Perform daily hands-on work, leading the production, maintaining the work environment.
Conduct daily inspections of workers and evaluate their performance. Responsible for performance management of shop employees. Ensure shop processes are followed.
Mentor, coach and train staff to ensure efficiency and improvement capability and workforce readiness.


REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

Licensed Industrial Electrician
7 years in production role.
Ability to work and travel in within Canada and the US.
Flexible individual with the ability to prioritize changing workload.
Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Capability to review, understand, and interpret blueprints.
Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of control panel design & building, and industrial electrical design & installations.
Trade certification in an applicable trade.
