We are seeking a hands-on Lean Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements on the shop floor through Lean, Six Sigma, and 6S initiatives. This non-managerial role focuses on implementing improvements, conducting time studies, enhancing visual management, and working closely with operations, quality, and engineering teams to streamline production and eliminate waste. The ideal candidate is passionate about making a difference on the floor, thrives in fast-paced environments, and loves solving problems through data, observation, and collaboration.
Roles and Responsibilities
•Lead Lean and 6S improvement initiatives on the shop floor
•Conduct time studies and implement standard work
•Improve flow through layout changes and visual controls
•Document current and future state process flows
•Collaborate with operations, quality, engineering, and business systems teams to identify inefficiencies and remove bottlenecks
•Maintain and enhance 6S systems (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety)
•Provide hands-on support during process trials, or production runs
•Support root cause analysis and corrective actions using Lean tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, PDCA, etc.)
•Assist in training and coaching team members in Lean tools and methodologies
Required Skills
•Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
•3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment implementing Lean or 6S
•Strong knowledge of Lean tools such as value stream mapping, visual management, and standard work
•Proficient in time studies and process documentation
•Familiarity with safety practices and 6S discipline
•Self-starter with strong follow-through and accountability
•Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
•Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
•Ability to work independently and spend significant time on the production floor
Work Enironment
•Manufacturing shop floor with periodic office interaction
•Daily collaboration with shop floor personnel, engineering, and support staff
•Must be comfortable standing/walking throughout the facility and wearing required PPE
