The Services Engineering team are responsible for technical deliverables relating to critical safety topside and subsea drilling equipment used by our customers during drilling operations. The Lead Engineer provides technical direction to the Services team for inspection and recertification activities. This role is suited to individuals that value a variety of challenges unique to services engineering, engaging with customers, field team and global specialist resource teams to provide creative solutions to real-world problems in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business and regulatory standards, practices, procedures and product/program requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and ownership of assigned projects
- Develop work packs, material list and tooling requirements for services.
- Assess inspection report findings following for maintenance and recertification activities.
- Develop and deploy technical solutions and repair plans, applying established methods where suited.
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools and standards based on learnings.
- Collaborate with other functions such as manufacturing, sourcing, field service and project management to solve issues and improve processes
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate in technical and program reviews and to technical knowledge sharing events.
- Provide Services perspective on new product development and upgrade programs
- Opportunities to travel to offshore and onshore locations, including overseas, for customer support
- Develop Condition Based Methodologies to further enhance Services product offerings
- Develop bespoke and enhanced repair methods, engaging with specialist internal and external global resources.
- Develop and assist in creating global inspection and repair procedures
- Perform system level troubleshooting for more complex issues
- Provide technical support for both internal and external customer issues related to Overhaul & Repair and after-market equipment performance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of relevant experience)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience
- In-depth knowledge of drilling equipment, specifically drill-through or Blow Out Preventer (BOP) equipment, topside equipment and associated mechanical systems
- Familiar with American Petroleum Institute (API) standards for pressure control and drilling equipment
- Root Cause Analysis experience
- Ability and willingness to travel to support customers
- Ability to work non-standard hours, as required
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Clear thinker with ability to develop, communicate and deliver clear strategy and action plans
