Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineering opening with a utility equipment manufacturer that is located in York, PA. This person will be responsible for providing design solutions from project inception through production. This person will be responsible for solving routine engineering design problems and perform system and component engineering for rehab and new components.

- Preparing/updating designs for customer projects.
- Contributing to the Engineering team’s objectives for Process Improvement and Standardization
- Participating in proposals to prepare preliminary design proposals.
- Technical project leadership from contract award through project completion.
- Define sourcing and manufacturing strategies through the course of the project.
- Operating CAD/CAE equipment to complete work assignments.
- Collaborating to refine strategies for manufacturing, sourcing, logistics and installation.
- Performing necessary design calculations (as required) by employing common engineering principles and using hand calculations, proprietary Voith design tools.
- Creating 3D solid models of components and assemblies.
- Creating 2D drawings best suited for the manufacturing methods (independently or by collaborating with designers.
- Review and release engineering documents and Bill of Materials in consultation with other experienced engineers
- Searches for and identifies OEM drawings in the archive and customer supplied drawing files.
- Use SAP to create BoMs (Bill of Materials) best suited for the manufacturing, sourcing, logistics and installation strategy.
- Participating in and leading design reviews and FMEAs.
- Preparing design changes and processing change notifications.
- Provides dispositions of non-conforming materials, machined/fabricated components and assemblies, and installed/tested assemblies as to adequacy for use in consultation with other experienced engineers
- Participates in the creation of design schedules for project assignments.
- Keeps supervisors abreast of progress on assigned work (milestones reached, workload, challenges, and delays).
- Engage with vendors, manufacturing personnel, and field service personnel in defining manufacturing, installation, design solutions that reduce cost and risk.
- Support the quality department with continuous improvement and problem solving activities.
- Assist Test Engineers during start-up and commissioning. Evaluating test results and checking on guaranteed values.
- Prepare and completing technical data reports/forms when needed.
- Communicate with customers regarding their engineering design-related questions and concerns.
- Take an active role in troubleshooting and root cause analysis supporting senior and principal engineers.
Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:
- Bachelor's Degree (Minimum) in Mechanical Engineering (Masters Degree and/or PE preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in the design, development and engineering of an industrial/structurally significant product- Strong proficiency using a 3D CAD package (SolidEdge preferred)
- Experience with CAE/FEA and complex engineering calculations
