The Lead Project Engineer provides technical project management and engineering leadership for assigned projects, acting as the primary technical liaison between customers, engineering teams, and EPC partners. This role is responsible for coordinating engineering activities, resolving technical issues, and ensuring project execution aligns with contract, schedule, and budget requirements.
This is a highly cross-functional role supporting complex energy projects, requiring strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer inquiries, change requests, and communications
- Coordinate across engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and project management teams
- Lead Customer Kick-Off Meetings (CKOMs) and Design Liaison Meetings (DLMs)
- Review contract documentation and communicate requirements to engineering teams
- Evaluate schedule and financial impacts of scope changes and support change management processes
- Manage the engineering budget and provide Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates
- Support resolution of cross-functional technical issues and design challenges
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned across projects
- Mitigate schedule risks and ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, and field teams
- Present project updates, risks, and action plans to leadership- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant experience - Minimum 2+ years of experience in Project Engineering, Design Engineering, or Field Engineering
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–15%
- Customer-facing experience
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (GTCC)
- Knowledge of plant system design, manufacturing, assembly, installation, or testing
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
