We are a design-forward, client-focused design/build firm in Rockport, Maine, seeking a versatile and skilled Interior Architect to join our team. This hybrid role merges architectural planning with high-end interior design, focused on creating timeless, site-sensitive homes along Maine's Midcoast. Ideal candidates will have experience in custom residential projects and a passion for creating spaces that are both architecturally rich and deeply personal.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership
•Develop complete design concepts for custom homes, including architectural layout, interior finishes, millwork, and lighting.
•Prepare design presentations and material palettes that reflect the client’s lifestyle and the region’s coastal aesthetic.
•Maintain a strong balance of form and function in both architectural detailing and interior styling.
Technical Expertise
•Produce architectural and interior construction documents including floor plans, elevations, sections, cabinetry details, and lighting plans.
•Ensure all designs comply with local zoning and building codes, as well as coastal and historic district guidelines where applicable.
•Coordinate with builders, structural engineers, and specialty trades to ensure design intent is executed through construction.
Project & Client Management
•Lead client meetings and manage expectations through clear communication and responsive service.
•Oversee the selection, sourcing, and procurement of finishes, fixtures, furniture, and equipment (FF&E).
•Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and provide direction to contractors and craftsmen.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design (or both).
•Architectural license and/or NCIDQ certification strongly preferred.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in custom residential design, ideally in coastal or rural settings.
•Strong knowledge of New England vernacular architecture, traditional detailing, and Maine’s environmental and building regulations.
•Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; bonus for Enscape or similar rendering tools.
•Excellent design sensibility with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
•Familiarity with local building practices, suppliers, and trades in the Midcoast, Maine area is a significant plus.
