Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Estimator to oversee the estimating process for custom architectural signage projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials, fabrication processes, and signage industry standards. This role will be responsible for creating accurate cost estimates, supporting the sales team with pricing strategies, and collaborating with design, production, and project management teams to ensure profitable and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for custom architectural signage projects, including interior, exterior, wayfinding, ADA-compliant, and branded signage systems.

- Analyze design drawings, specifications, material requirements, and manufacturing methods to develop accurate labor and material cost projections.

- Collaborate closely with the sales, design, and project management teams to understand client needs and ensure estimates align with project scope and feasibility.

- Source and maintain accurate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and internal fabrication teams.

- Develop and maintain estimating tools, templates, and cost databases to improve accuracy and efficiency.

- Review and refine design concepts from an estimating perspective to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

- Participate in proposal preparation, RFP responses, and value engineering efforts.

- Lead and mentor junior estimators or support staff, providing guidance on best practices and technical knowledge.

- Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, materials, fabrication techniques, and production capacities.

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably in the architectural signage, fabrication, or related manufacturing industries.

- Strong knowledge of sign materials (aluminum, acrylic, vinyl, LED lighting, etc.), production techniques (CNC routing, laser cutting, painting, etc.), and installation methods.

- Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.

- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with keen attention to detail.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.

- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with custom or high-end signage for corporate, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional clients.

- Familiarity with ADA signage requirements and local building codes.

- Knowledge of ERP or project management systems.

- Experience supporting sales teams with bid strategy and proposal development.
