We’re seeking a skilled Construction Foreman to lead our team in delivering exceptional hardscape and landscape projects across Oahu.
Job Summary
The Construction Foreman at Aloha Aina Landscaping will oversee and coordinate all aspects of landscape construction projects, including hardscaping, irrigation, and site preparation. You’ll lead a crew of laborers and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for creating sustainable landscapes that reflect the spirit of Oahu.
Key Responsibilities
•Supervise and lead a crew of 4-8 laborers and subcontractors on landscape construction projects, including retaining walls, patios, pathways, irrigation systems, and planting installations.
•Interpret and implement project plans, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company standards.
•Coordinate daily work schedules, assign tasks, and provide clear instructions to crew members to maintain productivity and safety.
•Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines, including Hawaii’s water conservation and native plant preservation standards.
•Operate and maintain construction equipment (e.g., skid steers, excavators, compactors) and ensure proper use by the crew.
•Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and report updates or issues to the Project Manager.
•Perform quality control checks to ensure installations meet Aloha Aina’s high standards for craftsmanship and durability.
•Manage material deliveries, inventory, and onsite storage to prevent delays and waste.
•Train and mentor crew members on safe work practices, equipment use, and landscaping techniques.
•Foster a positive, respectful work environment that reflects the aloha spirit and promotes teamwork.
•Communicate professionally with clients, addressing questions or concerns and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscape construction, hardscaping, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
•Proven ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and site layouts.
•Strong knowledge of landscape construction techniques, including masonry, concrete work, irrigation installation, and grading.
•Familiarity with Hawaii’s native plants, soil conditions, and environmental regulations is highly preferred.
•Valid Hawaii driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to operate heavy equipment is a plus.
•OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
•Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
•Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including Oahu’s tropical climate.
•Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality.
•Fluency in English required; knowledge of Hawaiian or other local languages is a plus.
Physical Requirements
•Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., stone, soil, equipment).
•Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods on uneven terrain.
•Perform repetitive tasks such as digging, lifting, and operating machinery.
•Work in outdoor environments, including exposure to sun, heat, and rain.
