Job Summary:
This is a temporary position for the period of May through mid-November 2025.
The Laborer/Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for supporting the daily operations and maintenance of the water treatment facility. This position involves performing manual labor tasks, assisting in the monitoring and operation of plant equipment, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal water quality standards. The role requires attention to detail, a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
•Assist in the operation, inspection, and maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, and related water treatment equipment.
•Monitor treatment processes and record operational data, including flow rates, chemical levels, and water quality parameters.
•Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and repair of plant facilities and grounds.
•Collect and test water samples in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
•Handle and store treatment chemicals safely and in accordance with procedures.
•Respond to operational alarms and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
•Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required.
•Prior experience in water treatment, plumbing, mechanical systems, or general labor is preferred but not required.
•Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to read meters and gauges.
•Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Work in outdoor environments.
•Stand, walk, bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
