Opdenaker Trash & Recycling is a family-owned and -operated company that has been providing trash and recycling removal services in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware for over 55 years. Our company is seeking full-time, reliable, and hard-working helpers for our rear-load trash trucks. Helpers assist the driver by loading the trash and/or recyclables into the truck. Start time is 5:15 am, Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work. There is the potential for overtime. Job Description
- Moving trash containers (totes, cans, bins, bags, etc.) from their curbside location to the truck for emptying and returning empty containers to the curbside in such a manner as to not obstruct any driveway, sidewalk, mailbox, or road
- Assist the driver while on the route with backing and other tasks
- Perform other tasks as required by Opdenaker on occasion
- Pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol screen test per company policy
- Pass random drug and alcohol tests per company policy
- Adhere to company's operating procedures as well as company safety policies and practices
- Attend and participate in Company training and safety meetings
- Ability to deal with customers and co-workers in an effective and courtesy manner
- Maintain a vehicle which is clean inside and out and presents a positive public image of Opdenaker
- Able to start at 5:20 am, Monday through Friday as well as some Saturdays; typically work 8 hours per day
- Ability to arrive at Opdenaker's Aston, PA facility on time each scheduled workday
- Flexibility to work another route or handle additional stops when needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push/pull wheeled containers of trash/recylcables that require a heavy pushing/pulling force for up to several hundred feet and up and down inclines, depending on the customer's location
- Ability and flexibility to climb in and out of the truck as well as stoop or bend unassisted as needed mulitple times a day
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather
- $16.50 per hour
- Overtime eligible at 1.5X over 40 hours in a work week
