Confidential Houston-based energy data & analytics firm is hiring a Jr Analyst / Data Scientist (Power Grid Analytics) to support grid planning and power market analytics for developer and trader workflows. This role is Houston-area required (not fully remote), with a hybrid working style.
- Work with utility planning model inputs (e.g., seasonal cases) to support scenario analysis and grid analytics.
- Help build repeatable screening workflows (constraints/violations, scenario comparisons, basic sensitivity outputs).
- Validate results and support QA checks (ratings/limits sanity, voltage/thermal violations, convergence monitoring).
- Document methods and assumptions and collaborate with the team to productionize analytics.
- Must be located in the Houston, TX area (or able to commute regularly).
- Familiarity with grid planning models / load flow concepts.
- Experience with tools such as PowerWorld, PSS®E, Aurora, PLEXOS, or open-source equivalents.
- Strong analytical skills and clear written communication.
- Python and/or other programming experience; SQL/MongoDB; Git/GitHub; Linux.
- Knowledge of transmission, interconnection processes, congestion/basis concepts, and resource dispatch (renewables/thermal/battery).
- Familiarity with FERC CEII handling practices.
