Journeyman Heavy Duty Truck & Trailer Mechanic (on-road)

About the Role

ROH Mechanical is growing fast and looking for 2 On-Road Journeyman-Level Mechanics to join our team. You’ll service a mix of customer-based vehicles and internal units, ensuring everything stays reliable and road ready. Tools are supplied — and if you prefer your own, that works too. This role also includes road service work in a company service truck, occasionally to remote areas of Alberta.

What You’ll Do

- Inspect trailers and trucks for damage, wear, and compliance issues.

- Perform routine maintenance (brake adjustments, tire changes, lubrication, torque checks).

- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults (ABS, lighting, wiring, air systems).

- Read and apply schematics to troubleshoot complex issues.

- Safely operate hand and power tools; complete welding/cutting as qualified.

- Conduct repairs on related industrial/heavy equipment as required.

- Perform road service calls in a service truck, including remote Alberta locations, as needed.

- Maintain accurate digital/paper records of work performed, parts used, and inspections.

- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety procedures.

What You Bring

- Required: Journeyman-level certification in Heavy Equipment Technician / Truck & Trailer (or equivalent).

- Licensing: Class 1 preferred; minimum Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract required.

- Solid experience in trailer maintenance/repair (air brakes, hubs, suspensions, electrical).

- Ability to work with trailer electrical systems (12V/ABS) and read wiring diagrams.

- Competent with mechanical diagnostics and automotive repair techniques.

- Forklift proficiency (certification an asset).

- Strong customer service mindset when working with internal teams and vendors.

- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced shop.

Nice to Have

- Experience with heavy equipment operation and industrial equipment maintenance.

- Welding/fabrication skills.

- CVIP/commercial inspection exposure (if applicable).

- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software.

Compensation, Tools & Schedule

- Competitive pay based on experience & certification.

- Company-supplied tools available; journeymen may use their own if preferred.

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, with a rotating on-call weekend schedule for emergency repairs and road service.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $38.50-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
