Repairs and overhauls automobiles, trucks, tractor-trailers, tank trailers and other vehicles.
- Perform mechanical repairs on commercial (class 6, 7 & 8) trucks and trailers to include dry vans/lift gates and tankers
- Perform routine and general repairs - with limited supervision/instructions, to include:
- Tire review and replacement
- Engine, drivetrain, brakes and suspension systems
- Annual DOT inspections
- Preventive maintenance/oil change and lube
- Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- SCR/DPF systems
- Laptop diagnoses utilizing various diagnostic software common to industry
- AC systems
- Trailer and lift gate repairs- dry van
- Tanker components-pumps, valves, etc
- Assist with ordering parts inventory and maintaining stock
- Communicate daily with coworkers and Transportation Manager
- Upkeep of shop equipment and general housekeeping
- Adhere to company policies, standards and safety guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- General knowledge of shop equipment
- Ability to Mig weld and use cutting torches
- General knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- 3 or more years working as a mechanic in a heavy truck/trailer environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Deadline and detail oriented
- Work in a safe manner at all times
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow instructions
- Possess computerized diagnostics skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Dependendable, on-time, and posseses strong work ethic
- Self starter who does need hand holding
