JOB FUNCTION / PURPOSE
Our Community Janitorial Technician worker will collect and dispose of solid waste and other job duties as assigned by the Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide janitorial duties and responsibilities as directed.
- Trash removal: Pick up and dump refuse containers and trash. Collecting and disposing of trash in a proper manner
- Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, washing walls and glass, shampooing rugs, and cleaning up spills
- Cleaning Restrooms
- Securing: Locking doors after business hours and using alarm systems
- Reporting: Informing management of any major maintenance or cleanliness issues
- Stocking: Restocking bathrooms and supply closets
- Responsible for keeping the building orderly and clean.
- Safety: Adhering to health and safety regulations and knowing safety hazards. Follow all department policies and procedures.
- Attend safety classes, reinforce, and comply with company safety policies
- Assist the onsite maintenance manager with any duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Prefer six months of related experience, high school diploma or GED, or specialized vocational training. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.
Knowledge of:
- Processes used in the collection and disposal of waste materials.
- Guide others, requiring decisions, affecting the individual, co-workers; works in a somewhat fluid environment with rules and procedures.
- Make decisions with very minor impact - affects only the individual.
- The use of various equipment and machinery such as hand tools and heavy equipment utilized in disposal activities such as compactors, lifts, claws and various hydraulic systems as well as shovels, brooms and rakes.
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Effectively communicate with employees and citizens who will inquire regarding disposal procedures.
- Work with citizens who may have complaints on services provided.
- Read simple sentences or instructions; write simple sentences; speak simple sentences using basic grammar.
- Perform semi-routine work following procedures, with occasional problems; requires normal attention for accurate results.
Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards. Must be able to work Thursday - Monday 4 hours a day.
Physical requirements
This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.
The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.
The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
