The IT Systems Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure. This mid-level role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The engineer will ensure optimal system performance, security, and reliability across hardware, software, and network systems.
• Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure including servers, storage, and network systems across terminals and remote sites
• Support mission-critical applications such as fuel inventory systems, dispatch software, and phone systems
• Ensure high availability of systems supporting fuel tracking, delivery scheduling, and compliance reporting
• Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, network connectivity, and hardware/software issues
• Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect sensitive operational and customer data
• Standardize and automate processes and monitor using scripting technologies
• Follow change management guidelines while making system improvements
• Recommend improvements to processes by utilizing existing software features and components
• Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to align IT systems with business needs
• Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plans
• Provide Tier 2/3 support and mentor junior IT staff
• Participate in audits ensuring IT systems meet regulatory and environmental compliance standards
• Plan, coordinate, and implement new software into business units with the direction of the Manager
• Manage multiple support vendors for various software products, including managing individual issue tickets
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
• Provide support outside of normal business hours to troubleshoot advanced issues or to maintain existing system stability
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related field or an equivalent Systems Administrator or Engineer experience (7 years preferred)
• Direct customer support managed via incident management solutions (5 years preferred)
• Support, maintain & operate Azure cloud hosting environments (4 years preferred)
• Manage identity solutions, such as SAML SSO, DUO MFA, Entra Enterprise Applications, Azure B2B directory sync, etc (4 years preferred)
• Manage automated patch and vulnerability management processes (4 years preferred)
• Indirect customer support via mentorship, collaboration and escalation with junior technical staff who more commonly interface with customers directly (2 years preferred)
• Hands-on experience deploying software to multiple endpoints via imaging or other remote assistance and deployment means, eg Intune, KACE, RMM, etc (4 years preferred)
• Demonstrable experience in Powershell, Graph and other code-based solutions to efficiently manage technology at scale (3 years preferred)
