Job Summary
The IT Engineer II in the NiSource IT department supports the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for various products and/or platforms. The incumbent will focus on assigned technical product/platform. This role involves working on an agile product/platform team that requires hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Essential Functions
- Technical Support: Assist in the design, development, and implementation of solutions for assigned technical product/platform.
- Create appropriate unit, integration, and automated acceptance tests for features based on requirements.
- Make appropriate design decisions based on knowledge of technology patterns and techniques based on Enterprise Architecture standards.
- Develop products or platforms that fulfills requirements, is readable, maintainable, testable, and performant using common development lifecycle techniques.
- Create highly dependable products or platforms, accounting for monitoring, logging, metrics gathering, system health, and reporting. Must be able to identify, diagnose, and solve issues in a production setting.
- Solution Development: Develop and implement solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of assigned products or platforms.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Code/configuration Review and Quality Assurance: Participate in reviews and ensure that solutions meet quality standards and best practices.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing support and maintenance for existing systems.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in platform solutions. Other duties as assigned.

- Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4-6 years of relevant IT product/platform engineering or software development experience, including but not limited to the domain technologies listed above.
- 4-6 years Corporate - Workday: Basic knowledge of Workday HCM, Financial Management, and integration tools.
- 4-6 years Customer - Salesforce Development: Basic knowledge of Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, and custom development using Apex, Lightning, and Visualforce.
- 4-6 years ERP
- SAP BASIS: Basic understanding of SAP system administration.
- SAP HR: Basic knowledge of SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) modules.
- SAP Security: Basic understanding of SAP security concepts.
- SAP Functional: Basic familiarity with SAP MM/QM, PM modules.
- SAP Financial: Basic knowledge of SAP FI/CO modules.
- 4-6 years Integration
- Working knowledge of one or more server-side programming languages (Java preferred).
- Experience developing, deploying, and supporting REST services and microservices (MuleSoft preferred).
- Experience using cloud services and capable of applying infrastructure as code practices (Azure and Kubernetes preferred).
- Experience with DevOps practices.
- 4-6 years Infrastructure Cloud / Data Center Domain
- Lead the strategic design and implementation of enterprise-level cloud infrastructure on platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
- Architect hybrid cloud solutions that integrate seamlessly with on-premises systems.
- Develop governance frameworks to ensure compliance and security for all cloud resources.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency, scalability, and reliability through advanced monitoring and resource management techniques.
- Establish robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical cloud systems.
- Define and oversee the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies using Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
- Design and enforce best practices for CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and enhance operational efficiency.
- Spearhead initiatives to implement containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Drive comprehensive monitoring and logging strategies to enable rapid troubleshooting and system insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize DevOps workflows across the organization.
- 4-6 years Network Domain
- Experience leading complex network projects
- Proven technical background across a diverse set of network technologies (routing, switching, etc.)
- Working knowledge of load balancing technologies (F5)
- Strong experience optimizing operation through automation (e.g., Python, Ansible)
- Strong technical knowledge in a multi-vendor hardware environment such as Cisco, Arista, F5
- 4-6 years End User Domain
- Manage the lifecycle of end-user devices, including procurement, deployment, and retirement.
- Develop and maintain end-user support documentation.
- Implement and manage Microsoft Autopilot for device provisioning and deployment.
- Proficient in managing end-user devices and software, including Microsoft Surface, Lenovo, HP, and Dell.
- Strong documentation and process improvement skills.
- Experience with Nexthink DEX software and its application in enhancing end-user computing environments.
- Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Autopilot.
- 4-6 years ServiceNow/CMDB
- Deliver the CMDB practice and related processes for gathering, maintaining and disseminating asset information.
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and related components - Discovery, Asset Management, Data Certification, Desired State, Data Manager, and CSDM.
- Experience with multiple platforms – Operating Systems, Databases, Windows system administration, SAN/NAS storage, TCP/IP Networking and firewalls.
- Expert knowledge of Discovery schedules, experience with scripting languages JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python.
- Strong experience with reporting tools, including Performance Analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency using development tools and software.
- Highly motivated, self-learner, and technically inquisitive.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional certifications in relevant IT areas.
- Experience in a similar industry or sector.
