IT Network Engineer I:
Under the direction of the Supervisor – IT Network Operations or designee, responsible for the design, documentation, acquisition, installation, configuration, and management of large enterprise network communication, server, and storage area network infrastructure. Monitors and assists Application Development with implementation of enterprise applications and associated platforms. Responsible for data integrity and recovery processes including data backup and business continuation. Assists Support Center with end user desktop support and implementation. Assists with design, implementation, and management of secure data networks including external vendor and customer access.
IT Network Engineer II and III:
In addition to the IT Network Engineer I, the IT Network Engineer II and III provides mentoring opportunities for other IT personnel and may act as Technical Lead on large projects.

IT Network Engineer I, II, or III:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, or a related field is required. Exceptional experience and progress toward certification may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
- Experience with Cisco and Dell brand equipment is preferred.
- Experience with performance monitoring is preferred.
- Experience with IP-based video surveillance, access control, and Genetec Security Center is preferred. Experience with maintaining IP-based voice communications systems (SIP) is preferred.
- One-year recent enterprise-level experience including Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory management, Windows/Linux Server management/deployment, virtualization platforms, including but not limited to VMware, and end-user device management/deployment is required.
- One-year recent experience installing and maintaining Ethernet networks including routing and remote access is required.
- Three years’ recent enterprise-level experience including Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory management, Windows/Linux Server management/deployment, virtualization platforms, including, but not limited to VMware, and end-user desktop management/deployment is required.
- Three years’ recent experience installing and maintaining Ethernet networks including routing and remote access is required.
- Six years’ recent enterprise server experience including Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory management, Windows/Linux Server management/deployment, VMware, and end-user desktop management/deployment is required.
- Six years’ recent experience installing and maintaining Ethernet networks including routing and remote access is required.
IT Network Engineer I, II, or III:
- Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F).
- Based upon duties as assigned by management, may be required to obtain certification in Genetec Security Center: Synergis , Security Center: Omnicast , and Security Center: Enterprise within six months of employment.- Progress toward obtaining industry certifications (MCITP, CCNA, N+, etc.) is preferred.
- Advanced IT certifications such as MCITP, CCNP, etc. are preferred.
IT Network Engineer I, II, or III: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The IT Network Engineer II and III assumes greater proficiency and advanced knowledge for the KSA’s below.
- Establish priorities and be well organized (goal and project oriented).
- Learn quickly and become familiar with technical subjects.
- C ommunicate clearly and concisely in person, over the phone, or using chat.
- Demonstrated abilities in meeting deadlines and scheduling of work for timely completion.
- Manage enterprise network equipment such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Understand Storage Area Networks and possesses a high level of capacity planning and backup processes.
- Effectively utilize a range of digital tools and platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise software, artificial intelligence-enhanced applications, and self-service systems. Must possess a willingness and capacity to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including mobile devices, cloud-based systems, and data-driven platforms relevant to utility operations.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of:
- Virtual computing environments including VMWare.
- Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Computer networks, peripheral equipment, system software, computers, and communication networks.
- Maintain adherence to all company policies.
Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Normal office environment. May require occasional late hours and weekend work.
