As an IT Network Specialist at Irving Oil, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure, including connectivity, protocols, network security devices, data systems, and telephony. Your goal will be to maintain and enhance the integrity of our network by supporting, testing, installing, configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting networking systems on a day-to-day basis. This includes collaborating with internal IT teams and external vendors, as well as contributing to the design and implementation of computer networks, and deploying routers, switches, firewalls, phone systems, and other critical hardware. Your success will be measured by the seamless operation of our enterprise network, consistent uptime, and your ability to proactively address challenges while supporting scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Please note that this position will require occasional shift flexibility and after-hours work.

Your Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with internal teams to implement, troubleshoot, and support network devices, including switches, routers, and wireless access points
•Monitor, analyze, and report on the availability, performance, and stability of critical business systems
•Ensure optimal network performance by proactively identifying and addressing bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and capacity concerns
•Serve as a technical escalation point, working with vendors to resolve network-related issues impacting both internal and external users
•Coordinate with the security team to mitigate security threats and support the prevention of network attacks
•Oversee vendors during the installation, configuration, and integration of new infrastructure components
•Manage the implementation of hardware and software, ensuring compatibility with existing systems through careful analysis
•Schedule and communicate after-hours maintenance windows, ensuring proper coordination with all stakeholders
•Track and report key IT performance metrics, including service delivery, outages, and project progress, while providing after-hours support as needed

Your Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field. Industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE), Fortinet, F5, and ITIL are considered strong assets
•Over 8 years of IT experience, including 5+ years in enterprise network support and implementation. Demonstrated hands-on expertise with complex networking systems including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, cloud environments (e.g., Azure), and telecom technologies
•In-depth knowledge of security protocols, industry standards, compliance, and risk mitigation strategies. Proficient with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark to ensure robust and secure infrastructure performance
