IT Network Security Support Specialist will be responsible for safeguarding our critical infrastructure and sensitive data against and play a key role in securing our networks, systems, and applications from security breaches and malicious attacks. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network security principles and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust security measures. You will analyze and monitor security incidents, conduct risk assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
•Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards and printers on user's premises.
•Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.
•Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.
•Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.
•Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.
•Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
•Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
•Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses.
•Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and provide solutions to prevent future occurrences.
•Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure secure integration of new technologies.
•Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
•Provide training and awareness programs for staff on cybersecurity best practices.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, related field or equivalent work experience.
•Proven experience in network security or design and implementation or related role within the utilities industry.
•Strong understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security devices.
•Certification in cybersecurity (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, etc.) is a plus.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in critical situations.
•Effective communication skills to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
