Mission
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for supporting shop operations by managing the receipt, storage, kitting, and issuance of materials, parts, and hardware. The position ensures inventory accuracy, material traceability, and compliance with established procedures while maintaining proper stock rotation, documentation, and housekeeping. The role also supports operational metrics through cycle counting and consistent material handling practices.
What You'll Do
- Receive, organize, and distribute raw materials, components, subassemblies, and hardware in support of shop floor operations
- Store materials in designated bins, drawers, and racking systems, clearly labeling parts and storage locations
- Adhere to established material handling procedures to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance
- Pick and assemble kits of required parts, materials, and hardware, confirming completeness and availability prior to release
- Inspect incoming materials against accompanying documentation to verify part numbers, quantities, revisions, and absence of damage
- Issue materials using approved documentation, ensuring required serialization, traceability, and lot verification are completed prior to release
- Follow all applicable procedures, desk instructions, and standard operating guidelines
- Track shelf-life controlled items and ensure proper stock rotation
- Contribute to departmental and organizational performance metrics and objectives
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Conduct cycle count activities to support inventory accuracy
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of inventory control experience- 3+ years of inventory control experience in a warehouse
- Experience operate a forklift and other related inventory equipment
- Experience and understanding of inventory and kitting processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
- ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to work in warehouse and production areas with routine lifting, carrying, and movement of materials.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work around active operations safely.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.
- Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
