Our Summer Internship Programme has been crafted so that you can understand what a career as a Java Software Engineer at LSEG would be like. In the internship you will work on projects solving real problems and work as part of a team with experienced engineers.
This isn’t about busywork, you’ll be building real-world solutions, collaborating with experienced engineers, and learning how technology powers global markets.
This position is within the Post Trade Engineering division and will be based in Norwell, Massachusetts
To be eligible, you should be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate or final year of an Undergraduate degree and plan to continue onto Masters for academic year 2026/27. Ideal students will be studying Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Internship Summary
- Work with your team to design, build, and improve Java-based applications.
- Experiment with new tools and techniques to solve real-world problems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Take part in code reviews, debugging sessions, and team discussions.
- Share ideas and contribute to features that could go live in production.
- Learn industry best practices and explore how software drives global markets.
What we are looking for:
We are passionate about recruiting people who are interested in pursuing a career within Engineering and would like to learn about the full breadth of our business – and are interested in playing a part of our development, as it grows and diversifies.
- Experience with Java and ideally an understanding of object-oriented design.
- Comfortable working in Linux or Mac environments.
- Basic understanding of linear and/or mixed integer programming and convex optimisation
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic financial products is a plus
- Ideal candidates will have the rights to work in Norwell without restrictions for the duration of the internship programme

Recruitment Process:
- The first stage of the recruitment process involves making an application and submitting your resume.
- The next stage of the application process is an Immersive Online Assessment. The assessment is designed to give you an insight into what it’s like to work at LSEG
- The third stage is a video interview where you will answer a series of questions using a strength-based-interview style
- The fourth stage is completion of coding assessment, so we can understand her technical capabilities
- The final stage is a half day assessment centre which involves several different types of exercises – further information is provided at the point of invite.
