Application Engineer Intern

- Kollmorgen Internship Program provides an accelerated training and professional development for college students who wish to pursue a career in Manufacturing, Design, Sales, or Product Development. The program will give students the opportunity to get exposed to the various facets of Kollmorgen’s lean manufacturing environment. The program will build on your technical skills by providing you a role with significant responsibility as well as exposure to experienced business leaders, mentors, and subject matter experts.

- Based upon the success of the internship, the Intern will be offered a full-time position with Kollmorgen.

Assignments

- Likely assignments can include Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, Applications Engineer, Software Engineer and Test & Automation Engineer.

- Below is a description of a few of these potential assignments. Selection of the assignment will involve the participant’s preference, availability of the assignment, and the needs of the organization. The specific responsibilities within each assignment may vary based upon the immediate needs of the business.

Automation Engineer

As an Applications Engineering Intern, you may be involved in:

- Assisting with motor, drive, and control system sizing and selection based on customer requirements.

- Supporting internal teams and customers with product recommendations and application guidance.

- Helping prepare technical documentation, proposals, and product specifications.

- Participating in product demonstrations and training sessions.

- Collaborating with field sales and product management to support customer accounts.

- Learning to use engineering tools and systems to support a paperless workflow.

- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and team projects.

Education And/or Experience

- Pursuing a 4-year Engineering degree.

- Must have strong written and oral communication skills for direct and frequent communication with internal and external customers and suppliers.

- Must have good interpersonal skills for our multi-functional team environment.

- Ability to work with all levels, including management and production personnel, to resolve technical issues that are identified through the manufacturing process.
