The Project Management department manages all the capital projects for Tallgrass including natural gas, hydrogen ammonia, and CO2 transportation, and CO2 capture and sequestration. The CCS Project Management team specifically focuses on carbon capture and sequestration initiatives, leading Tallgrass's commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable energy solutions.
The selected candidate will work in the Tallgrass CCS Project Management department in Lakewood, Colorado, supporting CO2 sequestration programs. The intern's main responsibility will be to support the Project Manager in the execution of active CCS well drilling and completions operations, compliance permitting activities, and development planning for future CCS programs across multiple states.
- Well Operations Support : Interface with drilling and completion contractors, review technical deliverables, and assist in monitoring well performance data
- Regulatory Compliance : Support EPA Class VI permitting activities including data compilation, regulatory submissions, and compliance tracking
- Cross-Functional Coordination : Collaborate with facilities, pipeline, regulatory, land and right-of-way teams to support integrated execution planning
- Future Program Development : Assist in development planning for CCS programs across various states, including feasibility assessments and regulatory landscape analysis
- Technical Analysis : Evaluate contractor proposals, organize bid tabulations, and review data quality of third-party engineering deliverables
- Documentation : Assist in preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory correspondence
- Ad hoc project support : Complete various tasks as requested by the Project Manager
The intern will gain comprehensive exposure to large-scale CCS project development and execution, including:
- Carbon capture and sequestration project lifecycle management
- Deep well drilling and completion operations in CCS context
- Environmental permitting and regulatory compliance processes
- Multi-disciplinary project coordination and stakeholder management
- Strategic planning for emerging energy transition projects
Students actively enrolled in an approved bachelor's or master's program in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering with expected graduation date of December 2025 - May 2027.

- Coursework or interest in drilling and completions engineering, thermodynamics, or process engineering
- Previous internship experience in oil & gas, environmental, or construction industries
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes
Can-do attitude and eagerness to learn about emerging energy technologies
- Our internships are temporary full-time positions, in-person at our Lakewood, CO office.
- We will host our Summer 2026 interns from May-August for 10 weeks.

- Pay Range $27.12-$31.01 USD hourly
