Big-D Construction, a National General Contractor of award-winning projects built by exceptional people, has a Project Intern opportunity located in St. Paul, MN.
This position is an entry level role which is part of our college internship program and is limited to only 2025-2027 school year graduates.
The Project Engineer Intern position will assist the Project Manager to write and track RFI's or review submittals, assist in change orders, maintain construction drawings, assist with subcontract and schedule administration, assist the Superintendent with punch list management and other needed items, etc.
Big-D and the approved higher education providers have mutually agreed upon learning objectives based on the company’s needs and the goals of the intern.
- The intern will participate in New Hire Orientation
- The intern will understand Big-D’s safety program:
- They can correctly complete a TH!NK form related to field activities.
- They will participate in a personal safety interaction (PSI)
- The intern will be introduced to construction technology
- They can create and RFI, Submittal, daily report and other records in Procore.
- They can participate in a Bluebeam studio session
- They can operate Procore
- They can modify a schedule in P6
- The intern will be exposed to the field and office environments; learning about construction reports, safety, quality, schedule, technology, and cost.
- Pursuing a 4 year college degree within Construction Management or related field
- Formal engineering, architectural training, or equivalent construction experience is highly desirable
- Must have good interpersonal and teamwork skills and a desire to learn
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Proficient with computer applications as required to perform responsibilities
- A basic understanding scheduling programs preferred
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must complete an in-person interview when hired and an exit interview when internship is completed
