Job Summary
The New Product Sales Specialist II role is the conduit through which our customers communicate their product needs to usand we translate these needs to winning proposals for new products, complex systems, applications, and WIP jobs. Creating a winning proposal requires an ability to accurately ascertainthe customer’s need, correctly size and select a solution, negotiate as appropriate a competitive price from our suppliers, and translate this into a compelling offer to the customer. The New Product Sales Specialist II serves as an internal subject matter expert (SME) on multiple product lines and/or applications and is a partner in the sales strategy and execution with the Account Manager.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- All duties and responsibilities of a New Product Sales Specialist I
- Establish, maintain, and retainrelationships with key buying influences and key management contacts by building effective long-term relationships and Customer loyalty often in collaboration with the Account Manager
- Develop and maintaina thorough knowledge of various fluid and chemical types, pressure, and the mechanical functions of products in order tosize/select the appropriate CustomerSolution
- On occasion, when needed and requested by the Account Manager, make Customer site-visits to serve as a product/application SME in the Sales process.
- Facilitate intake of customer requests and required specifications to then initiatethe engineering of a Customer Solution quotation including:
- Sizing and selecting of valves, parts, and applications for multiple product lines
- Communication with Engineering and/or Buyer representatives at the Customer level to determinethe appropriate solution
- Set the appropriate quotationpricing and margin per the Company BOA and typically with oversight/input from the NewProduct Sales Manager in order toprovide a competitive Customer Solution
- As needed, actively troubleshooting customer issues and requests and provide solutions.
- Knowledgeable in customer requirements and scope of work
- Assistwith the mentoring and coaching of New Product Sales Specialist I and/or New Product Sales Trainee when required.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering preferred or equivalent technical school certification
- Alternatively5 or more years of experience in a customer-facing role identifyingand addressing customer needs within relevant industry experience
- Strong market reputation with the ability to attract business to the Company through customer relationships

- Successful completion of Channel Connect Valve University for assigned product vertical (Control Valve only)
- Successful completion of shop orientation hours for assigned product vertical
- Demonstrate understanding and compliance with all applicable quality standardization procedures and computer systems
- Successful completion of instructor-led technical training for assigned product vertical (in-house and factory)
- Successful completion of computer-based technical training
- Successful completion of the New Product Sales: Level II LinkedIn Learning learningpath
- Successful completion of the level II written test for the assigned product vertical
- Successful completion of customer experience training
- Advanced knowledge of valves and related products
- Intermediate understanding of the chemical, refining, and power markets
- Established relationships with relevant suppliers
- Assistin the coaching, mentoring, and development of other staff
- Ability to perform job function without supervision
- Ability to understand and execute the New Product Sales Team and Company business and sales strategy
- Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance tocompany driving guidelines
