Job Description

Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.

What You'll Do:

- Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: Perform infrastructure project assignments.

- Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.

- Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.

- Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.

- Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.

- Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.

- Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.

- May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

Nice to Have:

- Five years in direct support of Network Operations in a large enterprise environment, preferably within the utility or energy sector. ServiceNow or similar ITIL experience is a plus.

- An advanced understanding of network communications technologies and n demonstrate the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, coordinate and resolve complex network issues and projects.

- Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

- Strong knowledge and experience with IPAM-DDI solutions

- Strong knowledge and experience supporting F5 DNS, GTM and Local traffic Manager (LTM)

- Knowledge of network security practices

- Familiarity with hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)

- Experience with network monitoring tools

- Knowledge in routing and switching protocol, WAN technologies including MPLS, Point to Point, MAN and Wireless; LAN technologies including LAN design standards and best practices, Data Center network Design and Wireless solutions; and security standards with firewall, design and best practices

- Experience in Unix/Linux

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly communicate complex findings and present them to ensure audience appeal at various levels of the organization and with clients

Preferred Additional Experience:

Maximo Experience

- Proficient in IBM Maximo: Extensive experience using IBM Maximo for asset management and maintenance tracking, streamlining workflows, and enhancing operational efficiency.

- Implementation and Customization: Involved in the implementation and customization of Maximo to meet organizational needs, including configuring modules for inventory management, work order processing, and preventive maintenance scheduling.

- Reporting and Analytics: Skilled in generating detailed reports and dashboards within Maximo to provide insights into asset performance, maintenance costs, and compliance tracking, facilitating data-driven decision-making.

- User Training and Support: Provided training and support to team members on Maximo functionalities, ensuring effective utilization of the platform and adherence to best practices.

Firewall Experience

- Hands-on Firewall Configuration: Solid experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting firewalls (including Cisco and Ubiquiti) to ensure robust network security and compliance with organizational policies.

- Security Policy Implementation: Developed and implemented security policies, access controls, and rule sets to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access to network resources.

- Monitoring and Incident Response: Actively monitored firewall logs and alerts to identify potential security threats, leading incident response efforts to mitigate risks and resolve issues swiftly.

- Collaboration with Security Teams: Worked closely with cybersecurity teams to analyze security incidents and recommend improvements to firewall configurations and overall network security posture.

Licenses/Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Infrastructure Engineer Principal (SG8):

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
