The Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, components, and purchased parts received by the company meet defined quality standards and specifications before being released for production. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality, reducing defects, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the supply chain and manufacturing process.
A successful candidate must be able to:
- Perform inspection and verification of incoming raw materials, mechanical parts, electronic components, and subassemblies against drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Utilize measurement tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and test fixtures to verify conformance.
- Review supplier certificates of analysis, material certifications, and test reports to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Document and maintain accurate inspection records, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and inspection logs in accordance with company procedures.
- Segregate and label accepted, rejected, or quarantined materials to ensure proper disposition.
- Communicate nonconformance issues to Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers for corrective action.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) related to supplier quality issues.
- Participate in supplier quality audits and provide feedback on material performance.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment in compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely release of materials to support operations.
- All other duties assigned.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical inspection methods and use of precision measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems (QMS) standards preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material (BOMs).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing environment.- This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve sitting, standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, and other physical activities.
