Employees are trained to make acceptance decisions on a variety of forgings varying in size and weight from 4 to 33 lbs with the majority of forgings weighing 10-15lbs. Forgings arrive in the inspection area within a container which is placed on the floor or on a mechanism that brings the container to approximately waist level. Employees have to reach at waist level, grab and visually inspect several or sometimes all forgings found in the container. When larger type forgings are to be inspected employees are provided with a lifting hoist to aid them in inspection.
- Operating a fork truck to transport tubs of forgings.
Standing: All work is performed in a standing or sitting position.
Reaching: Continuous at waist level from forging container.
Climbing: When getting in and out of a fork truck.
Hand Usage: Continuously using both hands for simple grasping of forgings and for sweeping and shoveling when involved in housekeeping activities.
Environment: 100% indoors, standing on rubber mat which is placed on concrete flooring. Impact Noise area, with elevated temperatures during the summer months.
Hours: Based upon production demands. Work schedule is set for working an eight hour work day with one 15 minute and one 20 minute break each shift. Production demands could result in employees having to work 10 hours and/or two scheduled Saturdays per month.
Lifting: 4-20 lbs continuously and 33 lbs occasionally/rarely.
