I&C Technician

JOB TITLE: I&C Technician JOB LOCATION: Lakewood, CO or Grand Junction, CO Preferred. Remote work considered. TRAVEL: 50% JOB TYPE: Fulltime EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED is required. An Associate Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation and Control (I&C) is preferred. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10+ years FLSA: Non-Exempt PAY: $40-$70 /Hour - Dependent on Experience

Position Overview:

The I&C (Instrumentation and Control) Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the functionality and efficiency of automated systems, working with a combination of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and instruments to monitor, maintain, and optimize system performance. Responsibilities include installing new systems, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, and conducting routine maintenance to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation. This position may also need to be able to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand how systems are designed and installed.

Job Responsibilities:

- Develop and write code for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using various programming languages, such as ladder logic and function block diagrams, to effectively control manufacturing, process, and automation systems.

- Configure and manage Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for large-scale, interconnected control systems. Utilize specialized DCS software and programming languages to oversee complex control loops.

- Ensure seamless integration of PLC and DCS systems with sensors, actuators, and other related equipment. Work extensively with software tools for system programming, configuration, and real-time monitoring.

- Apply knowledge of fiber optic fundamentals, including best practices for patch cabling, terminations, and installations, to ensure reliable communication and system performance.

- Diagnose and resolve system issues with precision. Conduct maintenance tasks and implement solutions to optimize system functionality and uptime.

Job Requirements:

- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical principles as they apply to sensors, actuators, and control systems. Demonstrated expertise in PLC and DCS programming languages and related software.

- Advanced diagnostic and issue-resolution skills for electrical and control systems.

- Ability to accurately read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams for electrical and control systems.

- High level of precision required for PLC and DCS programming to ensure optimal system functionality.

- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining production machinery within a manufacturing environment.

- Practical experience with industrial PLC electronics, electrical troubleshooting, SCADA systems, and metrology.

- Experience in supporting PLC-controlled machinery and equipment, including pumps, tanks, and piping systems.

- Fundamental mechanical skills to support equipment diagnostics and troubleshooting.

- Proficient in written and verbal communication in English.

- Skilled in using CMMS software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

- Ability to solve mathematical problems and engage in technical reading and writing at a high school level.

- Competence in reading and interpreting workplace documents, including SOPs, operator manuals, and work instructions.

- Familiarity with U.S. and E.U. formats for machine specifications, schematics, and mechanical drawings.

- Strong troubleshooting capabilities for diverse industrial machinery and control systems.

- A valid driver’s license is essential for this role.
