Job description
We are looking for a Hydrovac Operator with a Class A CDL and Tanker Endorsement who is reliable, safety conscientious, and professional in their interactions with coworkers and customers. We are looking to hire a driver who is interested in a career with us and who has demonstrated a safe work history with previous employers. Previous work history operating a vacuum truck is a plus. The position is 50% commercial driving and 50% hydro vacuum operations (wet and muddy conditions).
Job Duties
•Responsible for loading, unloading, reloading, and delivery of product or equipment and materials to various destinations. This could involve lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying heavy and awkward equipment, hoses, chains, and other items weighing up to 75 pounds.
•Offload truck collected liquids and soils at various locations.
•Control and document all applicable written reports and procedures including but not limited to Log Books, Time Cards, Pre & Post Trip Inspections, and Equipment Repair Reports.
•Understand how to hook and unhook to various types of trailers as needed.
•Responsible for keeping the exterior and interior of the truck clean and well maintained.
•Responsible for proper securement of all types of equipment or cargo and ensuring that all securement devices are in good working order.
•Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operations and product movements to include both state and county permits as needed.
•Inspect truck/trailer(s) for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips, and submit a written report on the condition of the truck/trailer(s) at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
•Check shipping papers to determine the nature of the product being transported, destination or delivery location, and/or any special unloading instructions.
•Drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations. This includes no cell phone use unless using a hands-free device and using seatbelts at all times including passengers.
•Ensure all shipping documentation required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
•Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations
•Report and document all accidents involving driver, company equipment, and/or private property to your immediate Supervisor, Safety personnel, or DOT Compliance representative. Report all safety hazards to your immediate Supervisor or Safety Personnel (DOT or Safety).
•Perform all other issued job duties as assigned in assisting damage prevention activities.
Competencies/Skills

•High school diploma, GED or equivalent (not a requirement)
•Effective English communication skills and good interpersonal skills
•Minimum of three (1) year experience operating a diesel truck in a DOT-regulated environment (Large City)
•Valid CDL with less than three moving violations and no DI’s or DWI’s
•At least three (1) year of experience and knowledge of or experience in mechanical maintenance and minor repair of diesel trucks

Potential Hazards
Job is outside work the majority of the time hydro vacuuming soil with a hydro blasting wand as a means of excavation, Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures, wet and muddy conditions, manufacturing, distribution pipeline hazards working around natural gas facilities, exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels while wearing appropriate hearing protection, exposure to areas with limited visibility on or near roadways, operate vehicle & trailer on heavily traveled and congested roadways in town defensively.
Essential Requirements
Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (ladders and machinery at significant heights) Lifting necessary equipment and materials between 50 – 75 pounds, 50% of the time on a daily basis for required tasks
Drug Testing Requirements
Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment DOT Drug and Alcohol Test per FMCSA requirements
Random drug testing will be conducted on a quarterly basis as required by DOT FMCSA requirements. Non-DOT drug testing may also be required to meet company and client requirements.
Potential or Periodic Amounts of Time For The Following
Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day, Standing, Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel, Use of respirator if certain areas require.
Driver Eligibility
All driver applicants are subject to a DMV background records search and must meet the minimum requirements of not more than two moving violations and no DWI’s or DUI’s within a three-year period from the date of hire.
Out of Town Work
Drivers may be assigned and required to work outside of the normal work area more than 75 miles from the base yard location. Workers assigned to projects out of town may receive Per-Diem for food and lodging or out of town expenses paid for.
Salary
Average Annual Salary Range Estimates based on hourly rates - $62,520 to $81,250 per year
