The Human Resource & Benefits Generalist is responsible for partnering with management to improve efficiency and effectiveness of workforce acquisition and management efforts in order to achieve operational business and budget objectives. This role is primarily responsible for benefits administration and compliance of employee benefits programs across multiple states, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, wellness initiatives and leaves of absence programs. This role also assists the HR department with other employee related activities.
- Responsible for managing Company employee benefits programs & administration of Section 125, 401(k) and other Company plans.
- Serves as subject matter expert on Federal and State labor laws as they relate to benefits: ACA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, Section 125 plans and other applicable DOL laws and guidance.
- Serves as primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, provides clear guidance on plan options, eligibility, enrollment and claims.
- Performs New Hire orientation including UKG orientation and employee benefits enrollment and manages Annual Open Enrollment.
- Serves as liaison with insurance brokers, account representatives and other vendors or third-party administrators to resolve issues and improve Company benefit offerings.
- Reviews employee benefit plans and manages enrollment, file feeds, qualifying life events, terminations and invoicing as appropriate. Maintains accurate records for current employee demographics.
- Performs benefits invoice audit and reconciliation and makes adjustments with accounting/payroll as appropriate.
- Performs functions in UKG for Company ACA Compliance. Prepares 1095 & 1094-C forms, reviews for accuracy and recordkeeping.
- Performs duties related to administration of Company 401(k) plans: assists employees with enrollment, processes terminations, distributions, hardships, loans, rollovers and RMD activities.
- Reviews HR processes & practices; reviews current benefits for utilization and presents recommendations or improvement opportunities for consideration.
- Coaches’ management though complex and difficult personnel issues as it relates to benefits and employee leave of absence.
- Administers compensation and leave of absence programs including ADA, FMLA, short term/long term disability plans and other state-mandated leave.
- Assists with employee relations issues, investigations, and disciplinary action process.
- Provides training to managers on sound and compliant HR & benefits practice.
- Actively participates in efforts to streamline and improve HR/Benefits processes through technology.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Previous experience using HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate change.
- Manufacturing, Construction, or Energy Services industry experience preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, strongly preferred.
- Additional HR Certification is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources with focus on Employee Benefits plans, payroll or another equivalent field.
- Previous experience using UKG Ready (or similar platform) for HRIS/benefits administration is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with multi-state and multiple employer payroll and benefits administration.
