We are seeking an experienced HR professional with strong expertise in recruitment and onboarding to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment activities, building and maintaining a strong talent pipeline, and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new hires. You will also support job framework development, including updating job descriptions and certification requirements, and contribute to HR process improvements. This position requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual who can work independently while collaborating effectively across departments to support the company’s talent acquisition and HR initiatives.
- Conduct job analysis, establish job level standards, and define responsibilities for both employees and contractors.
- Assist in developing and maintaining job descriptions, including standardizing and updating certification and ticket requirements for each position.
- Develop and implement recruitment plans using diverse and innovative sourcing channels (e.g., job boards, head-hunters, campus recruitment, social media platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn) to attract qualified and diverse candidates.
- Maintain a strong talent pipeline by proactively engaging in the job market and supporting recruitment and retention strategies.
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns and employer branding initiatives, including active participation in job fairs, conferences, and other networking events.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including requisition management, job postings, resume screening, interviews, candidate selection, reference checks, and facilitation of onboarding.
- Conduct recruitment strategy meetings with hiring managers to align on job requirements, candidate qualifications, and expectations.
- Conduct thorough candidate pre-screening interviews and recommend highly qualified and diverse candidates.
- Continuously improve recruitment processes, procedures, and systems, including sourcing and implementing an applicant tracking system for candidate management.
- Manage candidate relationships throughout the recruitment lifecycle and provide information about company culture, benefits, and role expectations.
- Oversee external recruitment vendors, including agreements, candidate submissions, and invoice processing.
- Build and maintain a candidate database to support the company’s workforce pipeline, and track and analyze recruitment data to improve efficiency and channel effectiveness.
- Prepare and issue employment offers and contracts, and manage onboarding documentation packages to ensure accuracy, timely completion, and proper personnel records.
- Collaborate with HR consulting firms to handle employee relations issues, including workplace conflicts, performance and conduct concerns, disciplinary matters, harassment and discrimination complaints, termination and layoff processes, and policy or compliance issues.
- Assist in preparing HR-related reports, support talent pipeline development, and perform other HR tasks or projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPHR designation (or in progress) is considered an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience related to managing full-cycle recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer management.
- Preferably possesses HR management experience in high-risk industries such as oil & gas, energy, mining, or engineering & construction.
- Experience managing both field employees and office-based employees.
- Proven experience in handling employee complaints, grievances, terminations, performance management, workplace disputes, and work-related injury cases.
- Proven track record of recruiting in a fast-paced or multi-stakeholder environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Solid understanding of HR processes, employment contracts, and onboarding practices.
- Familiarity with Canadian and Alberta labour laws, as well as OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) regulations.
- Ability to effectively analyze multi-dimensional HR metrics and produce HR reports.
- Familiarity with major recruitment platforms (e.g., Indeed, LinkedIn), with demonstrated ability to source candidates for specialized and hard-to-fill positions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable working with HR systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate across departments.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
