Hotel Maintenance Assistant

A Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chief Maintenance Engineer in the overall maintenance of the hotel’s building and grounds and the operation of its equipment and mechanical/electrical systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for the overall safety and security of the hotel and its associates.

Responsibilities

- Resolving maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders to prioritize and schedule work assignments (e.g. painting, drywall, door adjustments, minor plumbing and electrical work, HVAC maintenance, etc.)

- Assisting in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctioning property systems and equipment, including electrical/mechanical

- Assisting in inspecting property to identify potential and current needs and acting on those needs

- Performing preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis

- Assisting in servicing the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals, vacuuming, and cleaning filters

- Completing maintenance calendar

- Completing hotel mattress rotation program

- Maintaining and upkeep of the outside of the property (e.g. trash removal, maintenance of cigarette butt removal, cleaning of parking lot, leaf blowing, maintenance of flowerpots and boxes, etc.)

- Maintaining the building exterior if not serviced by a contractor (e.g. snow removal, lawn care, painting, lights, etc.)

- Maintenance of meeting room and assisting with set up/breakdown

- Maintaining a passing score on the Quality Hospitality maintenance and security audit

- Maintaining hotel brand service and product standards

- Listening and responding to guests’ requests and/or complaints

- Coordinating and maintaining effective relations with other departments in the hotel to promote guest service

Requirements

- Prior maintenance experience is required – prior maintenance experience in a hospitality setting is preferred

- Proven working experience and knowledge of proper maintenance processes, means, methods, and standards

- Strong initiative and work ethic

- Punctual, reliable, and regular attendance

- Strong attention to detail

- Customer-service oriented and excellent interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
