Intermountain Regional Landfill, LLC (IRL) is hiring a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our onsite Operations Team at our Fairfield facility. In this role, you’ll be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with the onsite team to ensure efficient, compliant, and reliable operations.

Role & Responsibilities
Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including:
•Haul Trucks (e.g., CAT 740B)
•Compactors (e.g., CAT 836K)
•Loaders (e.g., CAT 950 wheel)
•Excavators (e.g., Volvo 330B & CAT 349F)
•Dozers (e.g., Liebherr PR736 & CAT D8T)
•Perform daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance (fluids, grease points, safety systems)
•Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations
•Coordinate with the Assistant Operations Manager to manage daily waste compaction, cell development, and cover placement
•Prioritize clear communication with other team members
•Maintain equipment as trained, report equipment issues immediately, and assist maintenance crews as needed
•Keep accurate operation logs and complete required documentation
Qualifications
•2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience, preferably in landfill, construction, or aggregate environments
•Demonstrated knowledge of machine controls, safe operating procedures, and basic troubleshooting
•Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
•Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset
•Ability to perform physical labor, including climbing on and off equipment and working in various weather conditions
•Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed
