Heavy Equipment Operator

Job description:

Recycle Transfer Center is hiring an experienced equipment operator (wheel loader, backhoe, excavator) to work in a transfer facility moving solid waste. Must be able to hook, unhook & back tractor trailers and also physically able to do manual labor as related to this line of work such as loading the truck using heavy equipment and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired, but not required.

- 1-3 Years experience in heavy equipment operations

- Must be able to work in all weather elements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to read, write, and communicate with others.

- Ability to follow instructions and perform duties under limited supervision

- Ability to operate any equipment necessary to perform job

Physical/Mental Demands:

- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach and lift in an outdoor environment 90% of the time.

- Must be able to use hands and fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb and balance.

- Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

- Ability to manually lift/move heavier weights frequently.

Working Conditions:

- Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions (depending upon season), moving mechanical parts, vibrations, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles

- Work in a semi-outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.

- Work at an elevated position (adjust tarps on top of trailers)

- Work environment is normally loud

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
