Heavy Equipment Operator

COMPANY: Metalico Buffalo Inc. POSITION: Heavy Equipment Operator LOCATION: 127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo NY, 14210 JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-exempt HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM, Saturdays as needed 8:00AM-12:00PM COMPENSATION: $20-23.00/hr, based on skills and experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Safe Handling and/or moving material

- Knowledge of the excavator/magnet/grapple loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds

- Effective communication with all site personnel

- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.

- Daily maintenance of equipment

- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards

- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner

- Ability to sit for long periods of time

- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis

- Work outside in the elements regardless of the season

REQUIREMENTS:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Heavy equipment certification a plus

- 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience

- Organizational skills, able to multitask

- Self-motivated, ability to work independently

- Team player, able to get along with a diverse group
