Location: Edmonton, AB (on-site in our well-equipped shop)
Reports to: Mechanical Supervisors
Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional overtime for urgent needs
What you’ll do: Provide expert mechanical support for underground mining equipment, lead repairs, and help maintain peak equipment reliability in a fast-paced environment
What we’re looking for (the must-haves):
- 3+ years as an underground equipment mechanic
- Proven track record repairing and maintaining heavy underground machinery
- Strong hands-on experience with Sandvik, Epiroc, Maclean, Toyota, and Caterpillar equipment
- Valid Red Seal (or equivalent) Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic certification
- Proficiency diagnosing and repairing electric/hydraulic jumbos, diesel trucks, diesel scoops, and other underground gear
- Solid knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine assembly
- Knowledge of underground safety protocols and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and you can work independently or in a team
- Valid driver’s license; able to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and criminal record check
- Positive, proactive attitude toward teamwork and safety
- Asset: prior underground experience or farming/agricultural work
- Experience with surface and underground overhaul, maintenance, service, and reconditioning
- Prior exposure to a safety-focused, continuous-improvement environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Execute maintenance, overhaul, service, and reconditioning of mining equipment on time and within budget
- Diagnose faults, plan repairs, and implement effective solutions for underground and surface gear
- Repair and adjust equipment; replace defective parts as needed
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and reliability
- Perform regular cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance
- Identify safety hazards and adhere to all health and safety standards and company policies
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to meet urgent operational needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and maintain a clean, organized shop environment
