Provide leadership for the school’s athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation, and improvement of the specific sport coached.
- Coordinate the assigned sport and team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
- Implement athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all required sessions.
- Assist in the coordination and administration of the athletic program.
- Supervise students during practices and contests.
- Provide information related to transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
- Organize and schedule regular practice sessions to maximize student-athlete potential.
- Emphasize safety precautions and follow best practices for training and injury management.
- Conduct self and team in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
- Ensure the systematic return of all school equipment in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook .
- Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
- Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Course .
- Fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development , distributed as follows:
- District-level meetings: 4 hours
- School-level meetings: 3 hours
- Outside meetings/clinics: 1 hour
- Valid Teacher’s Certificate , Substitute Certificate , or Temporary (Provisional) Teacher’s Certificate .
- Full-time or part-time employee of the District.
- Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school where the position is applied for.
