The Growth & Innovation (G&I) team at EIX is looking for a teammate who is passionate about identifying, evaluating and investing in new technologies/business models in the energy and cleantech sectors’ rapidly changing landscape. The team engages actively in venture investments and has a strong external network, as well as close connection with our subsidiaries, including SCE (electric utility) and Trio (energy services advisory firm).
In this job, you’ll scan the ecosystem of early-stage cleantech companies, scout opportunities, and support strategic venture investments. You will advance new business ideas and strategies and will present these insights to senior management, including members of the C-suite and leadership at EIX, SCE and Trio.

Responsibilities
•Supports strategies and opportunities focusing on advancing business development efforts, growth and innovation initiatives, strategic planning activities, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and sustainability priorities
•Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses, including monitoring and research of industry trends in the power and utilities sector
•Tracks the clean infrastructure markets such as solar, wind and energy storage, explores new ideas and business models
•Conducts in-depth analysis of complex business problems and presents recommendations to senior stakeholders
•Provides insights on industry trends and scenarios to business leaders
•Develops strong, ongoing understanding of market trends and competitor activity
•Conducts strategic reviews to support management in formulating decisions regarding strategic development
•Analyzes, understands and articulates market information regarding competitors, customers and broader market trends
•Synthesizes findings into insights within a project, including implications that inform business decisions
•Assists in the due diligence efforts internally serving as the interface between SCE and the counterparty ensuring all functional areas are reviewed and documented
•A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
•Three or more years of experience in strategy/management consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or corporate strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related discipline.
•Experience, knowledge and/or a strong curiosity in energy, e-mobility, and clean technologies; strong background in innovation in these areas.
•Strong team orientation, ability to collaborate with teams in order to accomplish individual goals.
•Being comfortable in a dynamic work environment and able to cut through uncertainty to proactively move ideas forward.
•Experience communicating complex analyses and information to senior management.
Additional Information
•This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an EIX facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
