Williams Operating Corporation - Barrick Gold located near Marathon in Northwestern Ontario presently requires a: Ground Control Specialist Position Description
The Ground Control Specialist will assume responsibility for all short-term ground control issues (determined by the 3-month schedule), including planning and implementation of solutions. The Ground Control Specialist will report to the Senior Ground Control Engineer.
The Ground Control Specialist will be expected to adjust the ground control planning schedule in accordance with the short-term mining plan within their specific area and generally be aware of and contribute to the overall mine targets.
They will provide all ground-support plans & geotechnical information to the planners and the operating groups in an accurate and timely manner to assist the mine in meeting or exceeding its targets.
The Ground Control Specialist is expected to complete underground inspections at a minimum of 3 times per week, to keep updated with the ground control requirements of various areas, to respond to ground occurrence reports or requests for ground control inspections, and to conduct quality control assessments of ground support installation. In addition, effective working relationships must be developed with all operating groups to ensure communication of ground control information is maintained at the highest level.
