GIS Specialist

The GIS Specialist works under limited supervision to support Valero GIS activities primarily related to the Logistics department including map creation, database maintenance, spatial analysis and regulatory reporting.

- Supports internal stakeholders through creation of maps, exhibits, graphs, and other deliverables using ArcGIS Pro.

- Maintains and updates pipeline GIS data with as-built information provided by Survey, Operations, and Engineering groups.

- Reviews documents and drawings to verify asset attributes and other information.

- Supports enterprise GIS data management through efficient data entry, centerline edits and database design.

- Performs preparation and filing of accurate and timely regulatory reports to various state and federal agencies.

- Publishes and maintains content in the Valero ESRI Enterprise Portal.

- Supports internal ESRI product suite users on functionality of internally built Portal content.

- Manages tasks and projects in a timely and accurate manner.

- Writes GIS standards and protocol documents.

- Performs other relevant duties as assigned by management.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

- Able and willing to work on-site and in-person required.

- Bachelor’s or higher level degree - or technical training in Geography, GIS, Information Technology, or other relevant degree required.

- 5+ years of experience in the following area(s) required:

- GIS experience, with minimum of 2 years in oil and gas.

- Experience in managing PODS databases through ESRI APR and/or other pipeline specific GIS software applications.

- Pipeline company GIS experience preferred.

- Survey experience preferred.

- Experience in Autodesk CAD software preferred.
