Job Summary
The AKM Specialist within the Asset Knowledge Management (AKM) organization will support operational and technical functions. The AKM Specialist will support the GIS Technicians, leadership team, and business partners in designated responsibilities NiSource. The AKM Specialist will be responsible for communicating with business partners, supporting training, implementing and participating in quality assurance practices, leading initiatives, and participating in best practice sharing. Primary focuses of the AKM Specialist include compliance with Gas and electric Standards, company policies, and departmental policy; creating and facilitating training for stakeholders; and providing technical support for internal business partners involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of company facilities. The Specialist will implement and maintain internal quality assurance and quality control practices, while focusing on supporting key company systems data and records.
TVC (Traceable, Verifiable, and Complete) Specialist :
Close-Out Transmission Class Job Orders; transmission line, M&R, Service (including Farm Taps)
APR Mapping in UPDM/PODs GIS editing
New Construction TVC Compliance, training, and ownership
Transmission Mega Rule Roll Out and Support
Transmission Job Order Tracking
TVC Gas and electric Standards subject matter representative
NPMS Reporting, PODS/UPDM Analytics Support
TIMP Engineering and Major Projects Liaison
Legacy TVC Review
- Perform in depth record research within NiSource corporate systems
- Comprehend key design, installation, manufacturer and material documentation
- Preparation of reports outlining record research and strategies to mitigate findings
- Ability to create technical schematics such as isometric drawings that highlight key details of complex gas distribution facilities
- Ability to perform peer reviews that verify accuracy of information provided
- Development of tracking mechanism and ability to provide real time report of progress
- Collaborate with business partners to solve complex and detailed problems
- Stay current on leading industry practices for risk assessment, including learning from other industry applications of risk modeling approaches to gain insights from more mature industries

- Associates Degree in job-related discipline
- Working knowledge of Document Management and Work Management Systems
- Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems
- Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed
- Ability to create and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and listening communication skills
- Experience in the interpretation and application of standards, codes, and regulations.
- Job-related experience, 2+ years- Bachelors Degree in Engineering related discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge of natural gas operations
- Understanding of concept of traceable, verifiable, and complete records (TVC)
- Highly proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Teams)

The AKM Specialist performs detailed record research of NiSource natural gas distribution facilities with the purpose of determining applicability towards the Federal Pipeline Mega Rule. The in-depth records research will be performed within NiSource corporate systems, and requires the understanding of design, installation, manufacturer and material records for our pipeline and components. In addition to the records research, the TVC Analyst must provide recommendations for site visits based on record findings and have the ability to comprehend and apply the Mega Rule to these locations.
