About This Job


SUMMARY:

Utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to provide online mapping support, GPS field Support and guidance. Extracts data from GIS software and uses varying analysis methods to arrive at results. Recommends appropriate strategies in response to GIS analysis. Provides maps and data sets for interdepartmental use to supplement analysis. Knowledgeable of GIS software and technology. Prepares CAD drawings in accordance with CWA Engineering Department standards while also performing field project work, preparing new and revising existing drawings, and maintaining proper records.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

1. Uses GIS Software including but not limited to ESRI Software, ArcPRO, ArcEnterprise Suite, Arc HIS Online, AutoCADD, EOS GPS and ESRI FieldMaps, and various databases.

2. Be able to merge data from multiple information systems in order to solve problems.

3. Attend meetings with various levels of operations and management.


4. Provide training support for GIS users.

5. Support hydraulic modeling. This includes using GIS to generate hydraulic models as well as using the hydraulic models to analyze problems and recommend solutions.

6. Support GPS field data collection with training and setting standards.

7. Be able to perform CADD duties to ensure GIS standards are met and maintain base mapping..

8. Make additions and revisions to IMS infrastructure database including new mains, hydrants, and valves, and insure that all coding is prepared and inputted into the IMS according to standard Engineering Department procedures. Makes computer entry and maintains the GIS database. Performs quality control of accuracy of data entered into GIS.

9. Assist in the support of various asset tracking and asset management activities.

10. Prepare new water main extension CAD drawings according to Engineering standards and according to standard procedures of the Engineering Department. Drawings to be prepared from sketches, field information, plot plans, or electronic media.

11. Prepare field notes in conjunction with GPS unit and drone flights

12. Prepare water main rehabilitation drawings and main renewal or main reinforcement drawings according to Engineering standards and according to standard procedures of the Engineering Department.

13. Perform CAD as-built procedures to existing CAD drawing files according to Engineering Department procedures.

14. Make additions and revisions to IMS infrastructure database including new mains, hydrants, and valves, and ensure that all coding is prepared and inputted into the IMS according to standard Engineering Department procedures.

15. Maintain all Engineering records in conformance with established Engineering Department standard procedures including as-built drawings, main, service, and hydrant installations, renewals, and retirements, and all perpetual inventory records and IMS records.


16. Make prints of drawings.

17. Perform field work to collect information for drawings when field personnel are not available.

18. Perform other duties as assigned by the department.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Position is supervised by the Director of Engineering.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· College graduate with B.S. in Engineering/Geography or other technical major.

· Must be familiar with ESRI software products including ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or later.

· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with GIS applications including hands-on experience with digital mapping, digitization, scanning, data entry and data conversion issues.

· Be experienced and/or trained in Civil Drafting or be able to demonstrate an ability and knowledge sufficient to perform productive Civil Engineering Graphic Presentation.


· Part 107 Drone License


· Must have valid driver’s license.

· Maintain current technical knowledge by attending seminars and training sessions.


REQUIREMENTS OF THE WORK:

1. Must have considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools and practices used in the creation and maintenance of GIS and CADD data.

2. Must have ability to perform field work to collect or oversee the collection of water infrastructure for the GIS system.

3. Must be able to demonstrate competence in using handheld computer equipment with accuracy.

4. Must have ability to learn computer systems that will be operated as part of this position.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $29.38 - $35.38 per hour
